LG UltraFine evo 6K

$1,999

The first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5, and LG's return to the Mac market. A Nano IPS Black panel, 98% DCI-P3 and 99.5% Adobe RGB, and an 80 Gb/s single-cable connection that can daisy-chain a second 6K. At $1,999 it is a hard sell over the ASUS PA32QCV; on sale near $1,299 it is the most future-proof 6K you can buy.

Same pixels, different extras

The Dell UltraSharp U3224KB and LG UltraFine evo 32U990A share a 6144 × 3456 resolution at 224 PPI and IPS Black-class contrast rated at 2,000:1 (independent labs measured both lower), so sharpness and black levels are closely matched. What separates them is the hardware around the panel.

The Dell’s extras

The U3224KB adds a 4K IR webcam, beamforming microphones and loud 14W-per-channel speakers. Its Thunderbolt 4 port charges at 140W, it has 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and a big USB hub, and its stand gives 160 mm of height travel with swivel. Dell’s next-business-day on-site warranty makes it a natural fit for offices.

The LG’s extras

The UltraFine evo has two Thunderbolt 5 ports at 80 Gb/s, so a Thunderbolt 5 Mac can daisy-chain a second full 6K display from one port. It adds Nano IPS wide-gamut coating (99.5% Adobe RGB), a full-size DisplayPort 2.1 input, an auto-KVM, and LG’s Mac software for brightness and volume keys. Its weak points are 96W charging and a stand with only 60 mm of height travel and no swivel.

Which to buy

For a Mac Studio, Mac mini or 14-inch MacBook Pro, buy the LG: it is $400 cheaper and has newer Thunderbolt. Buy the Dell if you run a 16-inch Max MacBook Pro all day on one cable, need a built-in webcam and Ethernet, or are buying for a team. Both cost more than the ASUS ProArt PA32QCV, the best-value 6K overall.
