Apple
Apple Studio Display
Apple Studio Display
The simplest 27-inch 5K for a Mac. A 218 PPI P3 panel, one Thunderbolt 5 cable for picture, charging and data, the best camera in any monitor and six speakers that sound like a decent desktop set. You pay an Apple premium, and you get Apple polish in return.

The question most Mac buyers are really asking
Is the Apple Studio Display worth $600 more than the best-value 5K alternative? On the panel alone, no: both are 27-inch 5K screens at 218 PPI, and both look equally sharp in macOS. The $600 buys everything built around the panel.
What the Studio Display adds
The Apple Studio Display has a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage and Desk View, a studio-quality three-mic array, and six speakers with force-cancelling woofers and Spatial Audio. It reaches 600 nits, connects over Thunderbolt 5 with 96W of charging and a downstream Thunderbolt port, and updates its firmware through macOS. If you would otherwise buy a $150 to $200 webcam and a decent pair of speakers, a good part of the price gap disappears.
What the MA270S adds
The BenQ MA270S includes a stand with 150 mm of height travel, swivel and pivot. On the Studio Display, height adjustment is a $400 configure-to-order option. It also runs at 70 Hz instead of 60 Hz, has two HDMI ports and a second USB-C input, and a KVM for sharing a keyboard and mouse between two computers. Its Thunderbolt 4 ports also give 96W charging and daisy-chain.
The trade-offs
The BenQ is plastic, has basic speakers and no camera, and peaks at a lower 450 nits. The Studio Display has no HDMI, no KVM and only a tilt stand unless you pay for the upgrade.
Which to buy
If your desk already has a webcam and speakers, buy the MA270S and keep the $600. If you want one cable, one box and no extra peripherals, the Studio Display is still the simplest premium setup for a Mac.
